Whether you’re taking a weekend getaway or an extended vacation, there’s no question that traveling is stressful. Trying to look good while you’re traveling is pretty much on the top of the stress-o-meter. But traveling can also wreak havoc on your skin! Be sure to follow these tips to keep your skin looking great before, during and after your travels.

 Moisturize

Apply intense moisturizer the night before you are going to fly. This will help increase hydration in your skin before you’re exposed to the dehydrating effects of cabin pressure.

Forgo the Foundation

Skip foundation on the day of your trip, and instead wear only moisturizer. It will help your skin stay hydrated. If you cant forgo the foundation, then be sure to use a primer first.

Apply Lip Treatment Liberally

You can further protect your kisser by packing a lip treatment in your carry-on bag and using it liberally while traveling. Use a medicated lip balm, because it won’t rub your lipstick off and it keeps lips hydrated while flying.

Chill Out Puffy Eyes

To reduce under-eye puffiness after a long trip put crushed ice in a washcloth and apply it under the eyes. It’s an automatic wake-up call that makes you look and feel immediately fresher.

Keep Your Hands Off Your Face

To minimize breakouts while you’re on vacation, avoid touching your skin while you travel. You can pick up any number of unknown bacteria that can result in any number of skin problems after you arrive.

Take Your Cleanser With You

If you can only take one skin care item from home, let it be your cleanser. You need to wash off the cellular debris that can collect while sitting in a stuffy airplane or even riding in the car. A new environment means new toxins and sometimes our skin will absorb these, so be sure to wash them off.

Don’t forget the sunscreen

Be sure to pack your favorite SPF and apply it often!

Buy travel-sized toiletries.

Most of your favorite brands make travel or sample sized products that are safe for traveling. If your favorite product does not come in travel size, you can purchase travel-sized bottles in your local pharmacy and take only the travel-safe amount while leaving the rest at home.
